Has working for a leading beauty retailer been on your radar? If so, why not consider working for Ulta? There are countless positions available at their stores, such as sales, stocking, and beauty care, so your chances of finding a job are excellent.

Most employees start part-time, but people who strive hard can always get additional shifts and full-time roles. Securing employment with Ulta is rather simple and straightforward; however, I will guide you through the hiring steps so you can ensure you cover all the bases. You might be the perfect fit for Ulta if you have cosmetic skills and beauty knowledge you’d like to put to use.

Hiring Process – A Step-by-Step Guide

The first step in seeking a job with Ulta is to complete an online application. However, there are a few caveats to bear in mind before diving in head first.

  • You must be at least 18 years of age
  • You must be able to work on weekends, evenings, and/or some holidays
  • You must be able to stand for your entire shift

Next, pursue the open positions in your desired location by visiting the job search page. Click on the job titles which appear based on your preferences. Once you find a suitable position, click on the apply link. You will be prompted to establish an account if you have not done so.

At this stage in the process, you will need to acknowledge some disclosures. Afterward, you will move on to providing personal details like your name, address, and phone number.

Now a request for a credit report will need your approval. Complete the required information and then confirm your consent.

The following section will list the minimum qualifications for the job plus other qualifiers, such as your right to work. Then an assessment part comes into play in the form of more questions about your work ethic and how you deal with customers.

Your availability, work preferences, and starting date will be asked once the previous steps have been completed. Then you will be prompted to upload your resume and provide detailed information about your previous work experience and education.

Last, you will be requested to submit some references and any criminal history, if applicable. Sign and submit once you are satisfied with your answers.

What You Need to Know

  • Be available – answer the section asking for your availability honestly. It helps to be as available as possible.
  • References are required – You will be asked to provide two references, preferably previous supervisors. Educational or personal references are fine if you have no prior managers.
  • Don’t take the assessment lightly – Spend some time and provide quality answers. This weighs heavily on your hiring potential and is used to judge your qualifications, ethics, and work experience. Ulta will not be in touch if you do poorly here!
  • Always follow-up – You can check on the status of your application by logging into your account and reviewing the positions you applied to. Another option is to call the store and ask for the manager. If they are unavailable, ask when a better time would be to call back. Just give the manager ample time to review your application before contacting them. (at least 1 weak)
